BAYSIDE
Be sure to visit Seaside’s Bayside!
Down at the bay, you will find a boat, kayak, paddleboard, and jet ski rentals and two public docks for crabbing and fishing. Then, a short walk from the Seaside Sands Inn, there is a newly named “Sunset Beach”. The bay beach is a great spot to bring small children since the water is shallow and there is a designated swimming area with a lifeguard on duty. The bay beach is also dog friendly, and as its name boasts, it is a great spot to gather and watch the sunset from the bayfront boardwalk and gazebo or while fishing on the dock.
BREAKWATER BEACH WATER PARK
Only two short blocks from the Seaside Sands Inn is Breakwater Beach, the Jersey Shore’s premier water park. There is something for everyone at Breakwater Beach kids and adults alike. Get your adrenaline pumping on the Aqua Drop Freefall or hop in a tube and float down the lazy river. Breakwater Beach also has a kiddie area, a wave pool.
ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK
Just a short drive south down Route 35 from Seaside Heights, you will end up at Island Beach State Park. The Island Beach State Park is a preserved barrier island that contains close to ten miles of Sandy Beach, an extensive shoreline along Barnegat Bay, dense maritime forests, rolling dunes, and tidal marshes.
Island Beach is also home to foxes, turtles, ospreys, and other wildlife. The majority of visitors to Island Beach State Park go surfing and swim in the ocean or surf fish from the beach. Four-wheel drive vehicles with special permits are allowed to drive on the beach to fish. Island Beach has two swimming areas with lifeguards on duty. Note that only the unguarded beaches are dog friendly.
If you decide to visit Island Beach State Park on a busy weekend, be aware that the park closes when it reaches capacity. Wake up a little early; it is worth it! When you are at the park, please remember to stay off the dunes and don’t feed the foxes!
